On 1st August 2002, GE Capital became GE Commercial Finance, GE Insurance, GE Consumer Finance and GE Equipment Management.

Since 1995, GE has significantly developed its position in France by acquiring amongst others Sovac, Locafrance, UIS and Factofrance Heller. Its European financial operations make GE the largest issuer of funds in Europe, as well as the leading issuer of private debt in Europe.
